Rethinking how to help people choose vocational training<\/h1><\/div>

Test what YOU want to become<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n

Two weeks before the deadline to apply for vocational training programs, young people at Hvadkanjegblive.dk can now get a new kind of help to choose the right direction. The process is turned on its head through a test that asks young people what kind of person they are and what they want to work with. They are then given suggestions for fields of study. Professional experts developed the test and tested it on young people. The goal is to help get young people into the right education, increase
\nwell-being and motivation and reduce dropout rates. Parents and others can also benefit from taking the thought-provoking test.<\/p>\n<\/div>

March 1 is the deadline to apply to vocational schools (EUX and EUD). Robotics, process operator, gastronomy, construction and over 100 other options are difficult choices for many young people and their parents. Now young people and their parents have a new kind of help to test which direction in vocational education suits them best. Hvadkanjegblive.dk is a tool that connects interests and strengths with different programs and tells stories from those who have chosen a path. The test is easy to take. You answer questions about interests and personality, and then suggestions come up for specific vocational programs that match.<\/p>\n

Key organizations from both employers and trade unions have been involved in the development that headspace is behind.<\/p>\n

Focus on the individual's wishes and skills<\/h3>\n

Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, patron of headspace: \u201dheadspace is based on recognizing each young person as the person they are, and that mindset is applied at Hvadkanjegblive.dk. Instead of being presented with an overwhelming list of options, we ask what interests you and how you thrive. This is an important complement to existing help and guidance. By choosing according to interests, skills and motivation, well-being will increase and more people will complete the program.\u201d<\/p>\n

A strong professional collaboration<\/h3>\n

Behind the simple test lies a lot of work to identify the right questions and pair them with the many educational opportunities. Hvadkanjegblive.dk was created in collaboration between headspace and Det Sociale Netv\u00e6rk, with support of DKK 15 million from A.P. M\u00f8ller og Hustru Chastine Mc-Kinney M\u00f8llers Fond til almene Formaal. The test was developed in close cooperation with vocational schools, educational counselors and FGUs to support young people in making good choices about their future. Focus groups were then held where young people tried the test, and the feedback was very positive.<\/p>\n

Anyone can take the test - including parents<\/h3>\n

The test is for young people, but it's open for everyone to try. \u201dOf course, we've taken the test ourselves, and it's a fun eye-opener for everyone to answer the questions and see what suggestions come up. It can also help parents who want to help their child on the right path, but lack an overview of the options and knowledge of where their child can best use their strengths. We hope that parents will also take the test and get a good dialog going with their study-seeking children,\u201d says Poul Nyrup Rasmussen.<\/p>\n
