From east to west, invaluable support from Rotary Denmark makes a difference to the well-being of children and young people

Rotary Denmark has entered into a significant collaboration with headspace Denmark to strengthen mental well-being efforts among children and young people across the country.

Globally, the Rotary organization has approximately 1.4 million members, of which the more than 8,000 Danish members are distributed in approximately 250 local chapters. The organization has historically had strong support from the business community, as many of its members are employed in this sector, and this support is now helping to make a difference for the many children and young people who need help in headspace.

The collaboration with headspace Denmark is inspired by Rotary International's focus on mental health in 2023/2024, and Trine Hammershøy, Director of The Social Network/headspace Denmark, is very pleased and grateful that Rotary has chosen to look headspace's way:

“Rotary has a fantastic network across the country, and when Rotary speaks up for us, they help raise awareness of the fact that too many children and young people are not thriving. The collaboration with Rotary makes it possible for headspace to strengthen efforts to improve mental well-being, and we are very grateful for that,” says Trine Hammershøy.

In collaboration with Rotary, headspace Denmark has already seen concrete and tangible results in three local projects, all aimed at creating a better environment for children and young people. In addition, Rotary has contributed to local headspace centers in other parts of the country.

A new headspace center in Halsnæs Municipality

This fall, a new headspace center will open in Frederiksværk. This has been made possible thanks to a close collaboration with Hillerød Rotary Club, which has made a great contribution to the establishment of the new premises at Vognmandsgade 12. The premises have been renovated over the summer and from September they will be ready to welcome young people.

New facilities in Ringe

This fall, children and young people in Ringe will benefit from a new headspace in the Guldhøj community center. Ringe Rotary Club has played a key role in this project, not only by donating DKK 20,000 to furnish the room, but also by securing an additional donation of DKK 50,000 from the Faberske Foundation. This initiative ensures that young people in Ringe and the surrounding area have access to a safe space for conversation and support close to home.

Renovation of headspace Aabenraa

headspace Aabenraa has long been in need of upgrading their premises, and now this is becoming a reality thanks to a large donation from Rotary Aabenraa. Among other things, the money was raised by Rotary holding a benefit concert in Sct. Nicolai Church with singer Ann-Mette Elten and guitarist Niels Kirkegaard, both known from På Slaget 12. In total, Rotary Aabenraa raised DKK 120,000, of which Sydbank Aabenraa donated DKK 15,000 and Sydjysk Sparekasse DKK 10,000. Finally, Rotary Denmark's Relief Fund and District South Jutland/Fyn have also provided support. This generous donation will create a more welcoming and comfortable environment for the children and young people seeking help in Aabenraa.

headspace Denmark thanks Rotary Denmark and its local chapters for their invaluable support, which emphasizes how a joint effort can create positive change and support the well-being of children and young people throughout the country.
