headspace Denmark has opened a center in Næstved
The doors are now open to a new headspace center in Næstved, which means that the area's children and young people have easier access to free and anonymous advice in a safe environment.
A new headspace center has opened in the middle of Næstved. This means that children and young people in the area can now have a confidential conversation about what's going on in their lives, where no topic is too big or small.
Initially, headspace will have temporary premises at Farimagsvej 65, but this summer the center will move permanently to Jernbanegade 10, where the youth and project house JB10 is also located.
Carsten Rasmussen, Mayor of Næstved Municipality, says:
”I'm really happy that headspace will now also be an offer for young people here in Næstved Municipality. If you're struggling and need someone to talk to, this is a good, easily accessible offer where you can just show up during opening hours. I hope that the young people in Næstved Municipality will benefit from the fact that headspace now has a local branch.”
Lars Hoppe Søe, chairman of the Children and Education Committee in Næstved Municipality, is also happy that headspace has come to town:
”Politically, we have a strong focus on getting our young people off to a good start in life, and this is another step forward. With the report from the Well-being Commission, it has become even clearer that an easily accessible counseling service is an important part of the overall range of services for our young people. One such service is headspace. My hope is that it can help young people feel heard and that any challenges do not grow bigger.”
Kasper Koch Autrup, Center Manager in headspace Næstved, looks forward to welcoming the area's youth to the center:
”An offer like headspace has been in demand in the area, and we've had a fantastic reception. A big thank you to Næstved Municipality for prioritizing headspace. Municipal employees and other partners have been good at reaching out, and we look forward to continuing the good collaboration on young people's terms. We are not just a supplement, but an important player when it comes to young people's mental health.”
Support that makes a difference
The opening of the center strengthens headspace in Region Zealand and would not have been possible without support from organizations such as Rotary and Inner Wheel. In addition, headspace also gets two advanced employees from Næstved Municipality and Psychiatry Region Zealand, respectively. They will help track down young people who need extra support and create an even better bridge between psychiatry and headspace.
Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, founder and patron of Det Sociale Netværk/headspace Danmark, says:
”Through headspace, we ensure that children and young people get the right help in time, before problems become too big for them and society. headspace promotes cooperation with municipalities and private actors, and in this work we greatly appreciate the support we receive from private contributors such as Rotary and Inner Wheel.”
Looking for more volunteers
In connection with the opening, headspace Næstved is currently looking for more Volunteer.
