headspace Family is a free counseling service aimed at ensuring increased well-being for children and young people aged 12-25 by providing their parents and close relatives with the support and guidance they need.
headspace Family offers a confidential space for both individual conversations and family sessions, focusing on the mental well-being of everyone.
Relationships matter to young people
At headspace, we see that the topic of “relationships with friends and family” is one of the most significant concerns among young people in headspace. From our many years of experience, we know that the family plays a crucial role in a young person’s path out of distress.

Are you a parent or family member of a young person aged 12-25 who needs someone to talk to about supporting a young person who is struggling with their wellbeing?

Family conversations focus on the family as a whole. When a young person is struggling, it is often connected to how the entire family functions. We provide a confidential space for family discussions, emphasising mental wellbeing for everyone.

Why headspace Family
Our counseling service at headspace Family is based on the peer-to-peer method. This means that you will meet so-called peer volunteers with their own lived experiences, which are actively used in the conversations. It is a well-documented method that has been shown to create a positive effect.
At headspace Family, we see that the vast majority of relatives of a young person feel respected in the conversations and receive concrete suggestions for possible actions.
We also see that most people feel less alone when meeting with a peer volunteer.
“We know that parents and other relatives often feel alone with their concerns and questions. With headspace Family, we aim to create a safe and confidential space without waiting times or documentation requirements. Our goal is to strengthen the relatives’ ability to support the young person during a challenging time. If we are to help the young person, the framework of their life must work.”
– Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, patron and founder of Det Sociale Netværk/headspace Denmark
